Alvin was born February 13, 1939, in Bosque County to J. L. And Otellia (Grimm) Amundson. He was raised in Clifton and attended Clifton Public schools.
A short time after he finished school, he joined the National Guard. He served for several years before coming back to be with his parents. Soon after he returned home, he started work for Walls. He was employed there for a number of years as a bundler. He also learned how to sew and all throughout his life, he was able to mend his own clothes. He was an avid fisherman and spent a lot of time at the local river and nearby lakes. He loved to garden and take care of his mothers rose bushes when she was no longer able to. His truck was his pride and joy, he loved it. After his fathers passing, he stayed with his mother and helped maintain their home and land. When his mother fell ill he cared for her until her passing. After she passed away, he continued to live in their family home until he could no longer care for himself.
On November 11, 2001, he moved to Clifton Nursing and Rehab. He made many friends and enjoyed playing dominos, card games, and drinking coffee with them. He loved to do puzzle books and listen to country music, he kept his radio on 24/7. He was always happy and never complained about anything.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He is survived by numerous cousins and friends.
The family would like to say thank you to the staff of Clifton Nursing and Rehab for being a friend to him for so many years.
