Anita Behnke

Anita Behnke, 95, passed away Monday, November 18, 2019. Graveside services will be held at 12:00 P.M. Thursday, November 21, 2019 at Clifton Cemetery with Pastor R. Don Wright officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:30-11:30 A.M. Thursday, November 21, 2019 at Clifton Funeral Home.

Anita was born on September 20, 1924 in Kenny, TX to Adolph and Hedwig (Papke) Behnke. Every April 1st, the smalls schools in the area would gather for the county meet, where she enjoyed playing softball.  In 1942, she graduated from Valley Mills High School and later began employment at Piggly Wiggly. In 1964, she earned her Senior Secretarial Certificate from the National School of Business in Waco. She worked for the VA regional office for 20 years as an administrative assistant in the finance department.  For years, she was involved in charity work for the city of Beverly Hills. She was election Judge and also donated the jaws of life to the Beverly Hills Fire Dept. She enjoyed anything SPORTS, especially, baseball.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Herman Behnke, Shirley Behnke Lynch, Richard Behnke, Herbert Behnke, Ernest Behnke.

She is survived by her brother, Marvin Behnke and wife Connie;  nieces, Brenda Behnke Springer, Bonny Behnke Falcone; nephews, Mike Behnke, Bob Behnke, David Behnke, Bill Behnke and Ken Behnke; two sisters-in-law, Jean Behnke and Grace Behnke; she is also survived by several Great-nieces and nephews.
