Anna Gloria McOmber, 86, passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2017 in Clifton after a long illness. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 23, 2017 at the LDS Church 7201 Viking DR., Waco, TX. Interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in Deer Lodge, Montana.
Anna was born near Moody on February, 25, 1931 to Elmer and Lois (McGuire) Payne. She grew up on Hackberry street in the Edgefield neighborhood of South Waco and graduated from Waco Tech High School. As a young mother, Anna was a gifted seamstress and made many of the clothes her family wore. She was also a terrific cook. When she joined forces with her mother and aunts to cook for family reunions the results were legendary. A few descendants carry on this tradition to this day. Anna married W.R. Tate in Waco and four children were born to this union. Life was hard for the young mother but with the love and support of her siblings and extended family, she survived and her children would all be stronger as a result. On August 12, 1962, she married Fred Lee McOmber and they spent many years living in Montana and Oregon until his death at which time Anna moved back to Waco.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Charlene Hadatis.
Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Ann Ledbetter and husband, Rick of Valley Mills; sons, Bob McOmber and wife, Terry of Hardin, Lonnie McOmber and wife, Kathy of Rigby, ID, Ronnie Mcomber and wife, Mary of Sun City, CA; sister, Wanda Lackey of Center; brothers, Bud Payne of Eddy, Jim Payne of Waco; 17 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Hurricane Harvey relief effort or the LDS missionary fund.
