Bert Downing, Sr.

Bert Edward Downing, Sr., 86, of Clifton passed away Thursday, May 10, 2018, at Goodall-Witcher Hospital after a courageous battle with MSA. The family will hold a memorial service at 4:00 P.M. Saturday, May 19, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church.

Bert was born March 17, 1932 in Galion, Ohio to Paul and Loretta (Cole) Downing. On May 22, 1955, he married Mary Coursey in Pyote, TX. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951-1955, during the Korean War. He had a sales career that span more than fifty years. Bert was a member of the First United Methodist Church and served in many capacities. He was also a member of the Clifton Lions Club.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; four children, Bert Jr. And wife, Mary, Susan and husband, Juan, Kimberly and husband, Ken, Todd and wife, Angie. He is the proud grandfather of fourteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; one brother and four sisters along with many extended family members.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Sunset Home, Sunset Hospice, and Goodall-Witcher Hospital for their loving care.
