Betty (Bearden) Meinkowsky

September 18, 1933 — March 7, 2020

Betty Meinkowsky passed away at Hope Unit of the Sunset Home on the morning of March 7, 2020.  Funeral services will be at Zion United Church at Womack at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 12, 2020 with Pastor John Thiele officiating.  Interment will be at Clifton Memorial Park under the direction of Clifton Funeral Home.  Visitation with family and friends will be at 1:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service at Zion United Church.

Born in Bosque County on September 18, 1933 to George and Lola (Voiles) Bearden.  Betty graduated from Clifton High School in 1951.  Betty married H. L. Meinkowsky on April 18, 1952.  They shared 65 wonderful years together until H. L.’s death on December 26, 2017.

H. L. and Betty bought the home place where H. L. was raised, and they were blessed with three children.  After the children were all in school, Betty enjoyed working in the public as a bookkeeper at Sormrude’s Grocery Story and Forson Insurance Agency and then in the Activity Department of the Sunset Home.  She loved to read (and read!), sew and quilt.  Betty and H. L. loved to travel as long as they were able.  She was a long-time member of Zion United Church

Betty was known for her friendliness and her beautiful smile.

Survivors include daughter Linda Meinkowsky, son Craig Meinkowsky and wife, Debbie; son Bobby Meinkowsky and wife, Tina, and sister-in-law, Emma Louis Conrad.

Grandchildren are Mark Huffman and wife, Julie; Leah O’Neal and husband, Jamie; Shelley Townley and husband, Nathan; Mindy Meinkowsky; Nicole Ritz and husband, Jose; Candace Baker and husband, Jeremy; and Alicia Childers and husband, Jesse.

Greatgrandchildren are Chase O’Neal and wife, Adisyn; Justin and Seth O’Neal; Jacob, Austin and Maddie Huffman; Bailey, Brock and Madison Otter; Cameron, Jackson and Carter Ritz, Ava and Grayson Townley; Abraham and Samuel Baker; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

The family sends its appreciation to the staff of the Hope Unit of Lutheran Sunset Ministries.  Memorials may be made to Lutheran Sunset Ministries or to Zion United Church at Womack.
