Betty J. Sowder gained her angel wings on Sunday, March 8, 2020. Graveside service will be held on Friday, March 13, 2020 at 2:00 PM,  Mitchell Cemetery in Iredell, Texas.

Born Betty Jane Carlton to Sidney H. Carlton and Viva A. Parsons on July 17, 1927 in Carlton, Texas.

Betty attended school at Hico, Texas until they moved to Fort Worth when she was a teenager.

It was through a family friend Betty met Adam C. Sowder. The couple married on April 29, 1944. To this union were four children Judy, Cynthia, Rebecca and Adam Jr.

Betty was a wife and homemaker. She had a brief career later in life working as a dispatcher for Johnson County in the mid to late 1980's. She worked with both her spouse and son Adam Jr.

She and Adam moved to Lake Whitney in 1998. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family. Betty enjoyed some travel especially to Port Aransas with her daughters Judy and Cindy. This became an annual getaway.

Survivors include Judy and Don Bundy, Cindy and Chris Connolly, Becky and Pat Yandell, Adam and Ramona Sowder.

8 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Sister-in-law Kathy Carlton of Louisville Kentucky.
