Bill Wood

Retired Lt Col Jasper (Bill) William Wood, 82, entered into heaven on June 3, 2016. He is survived by his wife Carole Annette Poston Wood, 6 children: JoLyn Hayes, Cory Wood, Stephanie Katzenmeyer, Carole Ann Jasper, Zina Pew and Karen Williams; 13 grandchildren, 2 great-grand children; a sister Sharon Thorwald and brother Ronnie Farris.
Bill was born in McClellen, Alabama November 25, 1933 to Polie and Ruth Wood and preceded in death by his parents and sister Nancy Picard. Bill enlisted in the Army in 1955. Attended Officer Candidate School, then served in Korea and Vietnam and other duty stations during his honorable 20 year career. Bill, with his wife Carole, enjoyed serving the Mosheim Baptist Church, traveling, square dancing, and involvement in community activities. He has been Chaplain for the Heart Of Texas Square and Round Dance Association since 1995. Daddy said daily that Carole is a blessing from God. His and Carole's hearts will be comforted by your acts of charity to the Mosheim Baptist Church or a cancer society of your choosing in lieu of flowers. A private graveside service will be held for the family. We honor him: a family man, a gentleman, a soldier's soldier, and child of God.
