Carolyn (Crouch) Kneller

September 9, 1935 — January 14, 2024

Clifton

Surrounded by a loving family, Grace Carolyn (Crouch) Hackfeld Kneller, age 88, of Clifton, Texas went to be with the Lord on His day, Sunday, January 14, 2024. Carolyn was born in Waco, Texas on September 9, 1935 to LoVella (Baker) Crouch and Earl Crouch. She attended McGregor High School where she not only graduated Class of 1954 but met the first love of her life, Milford Charles Hackfeld. They married on April 21, 1955 and lived in the McGregor area where they raised three beautiful children and attended Zion Lutheran Church. Carolyn not only worked full-time for Central Freight Lines in Waco, Texas, and later Naler Insurance Agency in McGregor, Texas but was a loving Mom who was actively involved in her children’s lives. From baking delicious desserts, throwing creative birthday parties, serving as Cub Scout Mom, shuttling her kids around to all their activities, and attending all of their sporting/club events, Carolyn’s love of family never wavered. Although Carolyn was a proud, native Texan, she did enjoy summer vacations to the beautiful mountains of Colorado. Summer of 1984, Carolyn and Milford moved to Big Spring, Texas to manage the Central Freight Lines terminal until they retired in 1992 to full-time RVing.

After the death of her husband Milford in 1999, Carolyn met and married Larry Kneller on June 14, 2008. They shared a wonderful life together living in New Braunfels, Texas during the winter months and outside Columbia City, Indiana during the summer months. They eventually moved to Clifton, Texas in February 2016.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her first husband Milford Hackfeld, her loving parents LoVella and Earl Crouch, and her sister Sally (Crouch) Elmore. She is survived by her second husband Larry Kneller, son Mike Hackfeld and wife Gerri, son Darrell Hackfeld and girlfriend Robbie Grass, daughter Sherri (Hackfeld) Hennig and husband Gary, step-children - Cindy Archer, Linda Staley, Kirk Kneller, Dian Brown, Debbie Crum and Bobbie Brown, sister Peggy Lehrmann, grandkids - Stephanie (Hackfeld) Polasek and husband Bradley, Kaci (Hackfeld) Luedke and husband Ron, Meagan (Hackfeld) Semora and husband Willie, Dane Hackfeld, Jacob Hackfeld, and wife Noelle, Ethan Hackfeld, Brad Hennig and wife Samantha (Sam), Shane Hennig and wife Christine and Shelby Hennig and wife Jenna, ten great grandkids with another one due in June, several nieces and nephews, and several wonderful friends.

While Carolyn’s family grieves her loss, they are choosing to remember her in a way that honors her spirit. In the Spring when flowers are blooming and hummingbirds are flying, they will host a Celebration of Life Ceremony.
