Catherine Louise Locke

June 18, 1931 — January 2, 2019

Catherine Louise Porterfield Locke went home to the Lord Jesus on January 2, 2019. Funeral services will be at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Lake Whitney Baptist Church, 642 FM 3118, Clifton, Texas 76634). Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Monday, January 7, 2019 at Clifton Funeral Home, 303 S. Avenue F, Clifton, Texas 76634. Burial will be at Smith Bend-Coon Creek Cemetery near Clifton.

Catherine was born June 18, 1931 in Hewitt, Texas to David Chester Porterfield and Ludie Mae Hastings Porterfield. She had two brothers, Thomas L. Porterfield and Kenneth W. Porterfield, both of whom have predeceased her. Catherine attended primary and secondary schools in the Waco area.

Following World War II, she met a returning GI, Robert Carl Locke, and the two were married in Waco on May 29, 1947. They were blessed with three children, Dianne Kaye Locke Holland married to Tom Holland and living in Bartlesville, Oklahoma; Gary Alan Locke and his wife Terri, living in Cresson; and the late Robert Wayne (Bobby) Locke and his wife Crystie Locke of Joshua, Texas.

In addition to being a homemaker, Catherine served as a medication nurse in nursing homes in Cleburne and taught a ladies Sunday School class at Lake Whitney Baptist Church in the Clifton area.

She spent the last year of her life living in Oklahoma near her daughter Dianne and son-in-law Tom Holland. She loved Christmas and got to spend her last one on earth with three of her grandsons, Justin Holland of Dewey, Oklahoma, Robert Holland of Branson, Missouri, and Nick Locke of Joshua, Texas, and their families, including four of her great-granddaughters, Rachel, Rebecca, Cambria and Camdyn Holland.

She was a faithful member of Lake Whitney Baptist Church where she kept her membership until she left this earth. In Oklahoma, she attended Highland Park Baptist Church in Bartlesville where she was also greatly loved. In addition, she was loved by the staff and residents of the Tall Grass Estates
Retirement Home in Bartlesville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Carl Locke; one son, Robert Wayne (Bobby) Locke of Joshua; her parents, David Chester Porterfield and Ludie Mae Hastings Porterfield of Waco, two brothers and a favorite aunt Robbie Kirk of Waco. She leaves behind many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces and a host of friends in two states.
