Chieko Iha Amundson, 90, of Clifton, went to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Thursday, January 14, 2021 in Waco, TX. A memorial service will be held at 12:30 P.M. Sunday, August 15, 2021 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church at Norse.
Chieko was born on August 20, 1930 in Ishikawa City, Okinawa, Japan to Kyotaro and Kamado Iha. She met her husband, Alfred Amundson, while working at Sax Overseas in Okinawa, Japan. Alfred was stationed there while serving in the Air Force. They were married on April 30, 1963. They moved to the Philippines, Mississippi and Arizona before retiring to Clifton. They had two children, Alice and Alan. She worked for Walls Industries in Clifton until her grandchildren were born. She filled her spare time utilizing her many talents sewing, crocheting, gardening, baking, decorating cakes, and painting ceramics. She loved her grandchildren and took pride in everything they did. She was an avid Cowboys and Rangers fan and followed Clifton’s football and baseball teams – especially when they were members of her church family.
Chieko was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church.
Chieko was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers and one sister. She is survived by her children Alice Brewer and husband Rodney and Alan Amundson and wife Shanna; grandchildren Austin and Emily Brewer and Aaron and Kaitlyn Amundson; brother Katsumori Iha of Okinawa, sisters Misako Lynch of Georgia and Miyoko Firenza of North Carolina.
Memorials may be made to Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Clifton, Goodall-Witcher Hospital, Clifton, or St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital.
