Colby Cosper

Colby Charles Cosper, 35, passed away due to injuries from an auto accident. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 8, 2018, at First Baptist Church, Clifton. Dr. Jerry Smith and Pastor Rane Carpenter will be conducting the services. Burial will follow at Spring Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:30-7:30 P.M., Tuesday, August 7, 2018, at Clifton Funeral Home.

Colby Charles Cosper, son of Ronnie Charles Cosper and Carolyn Perry Cosper, was born August 12, 1982 in Waco, Texas.

Colby and his older sister Corie Ann and their parents lived in Waco until 1991 when they moved to the Cosper Ranch near Clifton, Texas in Bosque County.

The Cosper family were active members of the First Baptist Church where Colby was involved in the Royal Ambassadors, the Youth Edge Band, mission trips and ministry projects.

Colby received his education at Clifton ISD and graduated from Clifton High School in 2001. He participated in the Band and was drum major his senior year. He was in the National Honor Society.

In his youth, he liked to draw. Then he found his passion in music learning to play the acoustic guitar, the bass guitar, trumpet, and drums. He studied music at McLennan Community College in Waco and at the University of North Texas in Denton. Colby had been the music minister at the Spring Creek Baptist Church since April.

He and a group of church members had just returned from a mission trip to Brazil the week before his death. He enjoyed learning other languages including Portuguese before the recent mission trip.

Colby was employed at Evans Specialty in Cranfills Gap. He was a member of several ensembles, the most recent the Lucas Brothers Band where he was the bass player for the past year. Colby was a compassionate and caring person, a friend to many. He gave encouragement to family and friends in their time of need.

Colby was preceded in death by his mother Carolyn, nephew Micah Love, aunt Kay Cosper Davis, and uncle Leon Angermann.

He is survived by his father Ronnie and wife Angela Cosper, sister Corie Love, nephew Charlie Love, all of Clifton; step-sister Laura and husband Doug Siemon of Austin, uncle Tom and wife Brenda Cosper of Clifton; Aunt, Vicki Angermann of Clifton. uncle David and wife Lucia Perry of Little Rock, Arkansas; and many cousins and friends. Blessed be his memory!

Colby was a registered organ donor and his family learned his heart and liver were transplanted to recipients on the following Sunday, August 5, 2018.
