Dewitt Talmadge Greene Jr.

Dewitt Greene, 81, of Clifton, Texas passed away Thursday, November 19th at the Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home. A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, November 27th at the Greene Family Cemetery in Norse with the Reverend Clint Schofield officiating.

Born February 21, 1934 in Forest City Township, Rutherford County North Carolina, Dewitt was the son of Dewitt T. Greene Sr. and Nina Laughlin Greene. His childhood years were spent with his family following work throughout the South, but eventually landing in Dallas, Texas where he attended Adamson High School.

It was in Dallas that he met and married Lola Rawlins in 1953. Dewitt took night school courses and then received an associates degree in engineering from Southern Methodist University. He began his aeronautical engineering career at Dallas Aero. By 1963 he went to work for E Systems in Greeneville, Texas and spent nearly 30 years there where he worked on Air Force One and the Presidential Fleet as well as aircrafts from around the globe. After leaving E Systems to become a private consultant he completed writing the manual widely used for aeronautical companies to comply and certify aircraft with the F.A.A.

Dewitt and Lola raised their family in Mesquite, Texas, then in 1990 moved to the Norse area. After Lola passed away in 2005 Dewitt married Dorothy Wilson of Benton, Arkansas. Dorothy spent much of their married years in a tireless pursuit of his care as his health declined. Dewitt was preceded in death by his parents, his elder sister, Joan Andro, his wife of 51 years, Lola and great grandson, Cooper Greene.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Greene of Clifton; sister Janice Rutland of Lewisville; son Bruce and wife Janie of Clifton; son David and wife Hazel of DeSoto; grandchildren Brad and wife Brandy of Allen, Laci King and husband Todd of San Antonio, Texas, Adam and his wife Courtney of Hico, Texas and Nathaniel Greene of Everman, Texas.
His great-grandchildren are Tate, Emily and Lyla Greene of Allen, Texas, Elizabeth and Katelyn King of San Antonio, Texas and Clayton and Krece Greene of Hico. Number nine is due in the Spring.

He is also survived by Dorothy's children Gina Alder and her husband Randy of Van Buren, Arkansas, Carrie Collins of Fort Worth, Texas, Dale, Eve and grandson Ian Collins of Carmel California, Mark Alder of Van Buren and Andrea Joyce of Mountain Home Arkansas.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home or Cooks Children's Hospital of Fort Worth, Texas.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home and Providence Hospice for their heart felt care.
