Clifton

Don Ellison Cox of Clifton passed away peacefully at his home on January 12, 2024. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12:30-1:30 P.M. Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Clifton Funeral Home.

Don served in the U.S. Army from 1958-1978 and served in the Vietnam War as a tank driver in the HHB 1st Battalion 66th Armor 2nd Armored Division. He received the National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal with two bronze service stars; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; Good Conduct Medal Clasp; and Bronze five loops. He was also a member of the Masons.

He married Butonne (Newsome) Cox on October 28, 1972 in Waco, TX.  They were avid motorcyclists and members of the HOT Road Runners Motorcycle Club for several decades.

He enjoyed watching Westerns and the Dallas Cowboys.

He was preceded in death by his wife; son, Mike Cox; father, Carroll “Jack” Cox; stepmother, Katherine Cox; and biological mother, Christine (Finstad) Cox.

He is survived by his sister, Carol Dickerson of Temple, TX; grandson, Scott Michael Cox; several nieces, multiple cousins, and numerous friends.
