Don Harris

Don Harris, 80, of Clifton passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 5, 2018, at Trinity Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at the Rock Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Friday, May 4, 2018, at Clifton Funeral Home.

Don was born May 12, 1937, in Bosque County to George and Selma Petra (Jensen) Harris. He was an athlete in school and a member of the Eagle Scouts. Through the years, he coached numerous little league teams. He served nine years in the National Guard and worked for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for 18 years. During his time with the FAA, he traveled and worked in many places including Guam and Panama. In 1979, he bought and took over what we know as Don’s Cleaners, from his father. He loved people and always had an ear to listen and a way to make you feel important. He had a great rapport with just about everyone in town, if not everyone. A steadfast and reliable man, he was kind, soft-spoken and full of love and compassion.

He is survived by his wife, Glenda Sue; three sons, James Kevin and wife, Charlotte of Joshua, Tx., George Martin and wife Susan of San Antonio, Tx., and James Martin of Farmington, Utah. Ten grandchildren, six and a half great-grandchildren; brothers, George M. II and wife, Pat of Trinidad, Jim Bill and wife, Barbara of Clifton; Glenda Sue's children, Sherry and husband, Michael, Angie and husband, Dustin, John; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers are John Lunghofer, Allen Noel, Jermaine Sedberry, Zac Hohertz, Phillip Harris, Nathan Harris, Christopher Harris.
