Elaine Moore

Betty Elaine Moore, 79, of Cranfills Gap passed away Thursday, January 5, 2017 at her residence. Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. Monday, January 9, 2017 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with Pastor Ryan Pederson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial at Boggy Cemetery.

Elaine was born on February 10, 1937 to Ovie and Betty Huse. She attended school in Cranfills Gap where she graduated in 1955. She married Dalton Moore on January 19, 1957. Life took them to Kansas City, Missouri and Muskogee, Oklahoma before returning home to Texas in 1966. She went to work as an accountant for Texas Industries in 1966 and retired in 2000 after 34 years of service.

Among her many interests, Elaine especially enjoyed cooking and sewing. She was a very gifted seamstress and spent many hours sewing clothes for herself and her family. Later in life, she spent much of her spare time sewing quilt tops and hand quilting with friends. Her advice and expertise will be missed by many.

She enjoyed cooking for family and providing pies and other goodies for the various community events held throughout the year. She made sure to share those traditional Norwegian recipes so they could be carried down to future generations. Many cherished memories were made in her kitchen.

Survivors include her husband, Dalton Moore of Cranfills Gap; sons, Terry Moore of Arlington, Bobby Moore of Arlington; daughter, Paula Shivers and husband Jerry of Brock; Brothers, O.C. Huse, Charles Huse; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
