Ernest Elmo Harvey

Ernest Elmo Harvey was born on December 2, 1927 in Norse, TX. He was the 10th child born to Marvin and Ida Harvey. Elmo was better known by his nickname "Percy" as he was growing up. He attended Clifton schools, participating in all sports. He graduated in 1946. He was a very loyal Clifton Cub supporter all his life. He was an encyclopedia of sports; always citing games scores, stats, key plays, rookie performances, and the like.

Elmo was a man of strong faith and was ordained as a deacon on February 26, 2012. He visibly practiced his faith and was a "prayer warrior" on a daily basis.

Elmo married Carrol Jean White on September 17, 1948. His early working years were spent at Kimbell Milling Company in Clifton, TX. After a few years, he was employed at Phillips Petroleum Company in McGregor, TX, later to become Rocketdyne, and eventually Hercules Inc. He retired from Hercules after 35 plus years of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents, ten brothers and sisters, and his wife Carrol Jean.

He is survived by his sons, Larry Harvey and wife Geneva, Kenneth Harvey, Lonnie Harvey and wife Sue; grandchildren, Shelly, Jennifer, Brad, Erin, Samantha, Amber; nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Elmo passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 31, 2016 at Goodall-Witcher Nursing Facility in Clifton, TX at the age of 88.

Services were held August 4, 2016 at First Baptist Church in Clifton, TX conducted by Dr. Jerry Smith. Organ music was provided by Maudie Monroe. Pallbearers were Brad Harvey, Dax Gann, Jim Carpenter, Ron Spurlock, Derek Bridges and Taylor Dean. Interment followed at Clifton Memorial Park.
