Floyd Edward Raines was in his 83rd year of life when the Lord called him home. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, May 1, 2021, at Smith Bend Coon Creek Cemetery with Dale Glenn officiating.
Floyd was born on August 27, 1937, to John Raines and Ruby Raines. He married his loving wife on October 25, 1957. His faithful wife Wanda stood by his side for 63 years. The couple worked diligently and owned Bosque Plumbing for over 20 years.
Family was the pivotal essence of Floyd’s life. As a very young man, he learned to work hard and taught his children to do the same. He coached his son’s baseball teams and taught his daughter to be fiercely independent, to stand up for what is right, and don’t bend the truth. He was an avid outdoorsman. He taught all of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren to hunt and fish. As a grandfather, Floyd was a rock star. He always made sure his granddaughters had fresh oil and good tires on their vehicles. He accepted payment only in Yankee dimes. Floyd was genuine to a fault, never sugar coating anything. This charismatic straight shooter never met a stranger or a waitress he couldn’t make smile. He enjoyed drag racing, boating, fishing, hunting, gardening, and twirling his wife Wanda around the dance floor (in his younger years).
He was always seen wearing his signature t-shirt and bib overalls. He was the unofficial spokesperson for Cheetos. He loved the Lord and his family with all of his heart. Well-wishers are asked to write a note on a Busch beer can and drink it in his honor.
He is preceded in death by his son Troy Raines, father John Raines, mother Ruby Raines, brother John Raines, sisters Dorothy Jones, Carolyn Glass, and Ruby Lee Wright. Granddaughter Heather Heath and several nephews.
He is survived by his wife Wanda Raines, son Chris Raines, daughter Rhonda Raines, as well as 5 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
