Frances Roper

Frances Roper, age 97, of Clifton passed away peacefully Sunday morning in Clifton. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM, Tuesday, at Clifton Funeral Home with visitation to follow until 8:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3:00 PM, Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Clifton with Rev. Isaac Orozco as celebrant. Burial will follow at Clifton Memorial Park.

Loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Frances was born on April 19, 1918 in Groveton, Texas, to Charles and Frances Tomek. She and Mack Roper were united in marriage and he preceded her in death on April 7, 1986. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters.

For 22 years, she worked at Goodall Witcher Hospital as a nurse, primarily providing loving care for newborns in the nursery. She was also a very active and involved member at Holy Angels Catholic Church and was a member of SPJST for over 60 years.

Left to cherish her memory are her three children, William Roper and wife, Esther, of Clifton, Ben Roper and wife, Patricia, and Joan Roper, all of College Station; two brothers, Stanley Tomek of Temple and Joe Tomek of Burlington; six grandchildren, Kellie Flournoy and husband, Russell, of Whitney, Matthew Roper and wife, Lauren, of Nassau Bay, Sean Roper of College Station, Christopher Roper and wife, Dagny, of Chesapeake, VA, Kenneth Belknap of College Station, and Diana Cardona and husband, Derek, of Clifton; and six great-grandchildren, R. J. Flournoy of Whitney, Aaron Cardona, Wade Cardona, and Hailey Cordona, all of Clifton, Hudson Roper of Nassau Bay and Chance Belknap of College Station.
