George was born on September 1, 1939 in Granger, Texas to George Mokry and Mary Matula Mokry. He grew up in Granger and graduated from Bartlett High School.Working alongside his siblings in the cotton fields he developed a strong work ethic early in life. At eighteen he decided to join the Army and see the world.  After serving his country, he returned to Texas where he met and fell in love with his wife of 46 years, Billie Sims Mokry. They settled in the Dallas area and raised two sons, George and Paul, and a daughter Susan. George was a dedicated employee of the United States Postal Service in Garland, Texas, at the Kingsley Station for 40 years.

He lived an active and independent life guided by his core values of family, faith and healthy lifestyle. He enjoyed close relationships with his brothers, sisters and children and played a significant role in the lives of his grandchildren. George was an “old school conservative” of the Catholic faith who never missed Sunday Mass.  He was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, St. Monica Catholic Church and NALC. He enjoyed volunteering his free time at the church helping to maintain it. He was a lifelong fan of the Dallas Cowboys and a true student of the game. A quiet and reserved man, he enjoyed simple pleasures including walking on a beautiful day, listening to polka music, or watching Fox News and The Wheel of Fortune. His faithful and dependable character was a stabilizing force and positive influence on those around him. He will be missed.

George was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Billie Sims Mokry; his son, Paul Alan Mokry; his siblings, Georgia Cantrell, Lilian Magown, Jerry Mokry, Laddie Mokry, Tillie Mokry, and Bernadette Mokry.  Survivors include his children, George Gene Mokry, Susan Renee Cookston; his twin sister Mary Kadlubar and his brother Alvis Mokry; grandchildren, Joshua and Sebastian Mokry, Chasity, Devinne, Chelsea and Jodie Cookston; great-grandchildren, Tristen, Hunter, Rowdy, Demi, Emma, Noah and Daniel.
