Georgia (Hite) Bell

July 10, 1935 — November 19, 2022

Clifton

Georgia Mae Hite Bell passed away peacefully at the age of 87 at the Lutheran Sunset Home on November 19, 2022. Services will be held on November 28, 2022, at Clifton Memorial Park at 1:00 PM.

Georgia Mae Hite was born on July 10, 1935, in Miles, Texas to James Henry Hite and Mary Jane Hovorak Hite. She attended Miles Public School which was a one room schoolhouse. She later attended and graduated from Ballinger High School. Georgia attended Cosmetology School after High School where she learned to be a Beautician.

On March 18, 1954, Georgia married the love of her life Scotty Frank Bell. They were blessed with one daughter, Teresa. Georgia was the kind of person who didn’t like to waste time. She stayed busy. One of Georgia’s ways of keeping on the go was sewing dresses for her daughter Teresa. She soon was very busy when the family moved to Clifton in 1969, where Scotty and Georgia purchased a grocery store in downtown Clifton. They worked together side by side in the grocery business for many years until they retired. Georgia and Scotty both were well known and liked in the little community of Clifton, Texas.

Georgia grew up in the Baptist Church, but later changed her Church affiliation to Methodist after she married. Georgia and Scotty joined the First United Methodist Church in 1969 after they moved to Clifton. She added to her list of things to keep busy by volunteering to help in the Church office. Georgia also loved to volunteer to help with the food bank. She truly showed her love for others by lending a helping hand.

Georgia had several favorite past times. She loved to work in her garden. It was so peaceful for her to spend time watching her flowers grow then turn into lovely blooms. She adored her grandchildren and was always very proud of their accomplishments. She was also an amazing cook. Cooking for family was a joy. There will never be any turkey and dressing as good as hers, not to mention her potato rolls and buttermilk pie!

It has been a long, long wait but she has finally joined again, the love of her life, Scotty.

Left to cherish her memory is daughter Teresa Crawford Phillips and husband David. Grandsons; Zach Crawford and wife Chloe. Justin Crawford and wife Kari. Brandon Crawford and wife Sarah. Great Grandchildren; Ro, Amelie, Anneliese, Nolan, and Gavin. Brothers; James Hite and wife JimBeth. Paul Hite and wife Elaine. Sister; Joyce Clegg. Many cousins, nephews, nieces, family members and friends.
