Glenda Janet Sorley, age 62, passed away on August 5, 2015. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Friday, August 7, 2015 at Zion United Church in Womack. Interment will follow at Clfiton Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6:00-7:00 PM, Thursday at Clifton Funeral Home in Clifton.
Glenda was born November 22, 1952, at Providence Hospital in Waco to Adolph and Lorene Thiele. On January 11, 1953, she was baptized at Evangelical and Reformed Church in Womack by Reverend Otto Schulze and was confirmed May 22, 1966 at Zion United Church by Pastor Walter Simpson. Her memory verse at confirmation was John 3:16.
On January 25, 1975, she and Arlen Sorley were united in marriage by Rev. Frank Horak, also at Zion United Church. Together they raised two adopted children, Jennifer and Jason. A diligent employee, she worked for Ashcraft Variety Stores, Winns, Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home, and nearly 20 years at ALCO in Clifton. In addition, she taught music and substituted at Clifton Elementary School. She also attended McLennan Community College School of Nursing.
Glenda loved to cook, and many believed she made the best chocolate chip cookies around! She delighted in traveling with her family, especially if there was a penny slot on the way! For both Campfire and Girl Scouts, she served as an enthusiastic troop leader. She also taught Sunday School and rarely failed attending Women's Guild with her mother.
She loved profoundly and without reservation her parents, who preceded her in death.
Survivors include her loving husband of forty years, Arlen; daughter, Jennifer Martin and her husband, Jeremy; son, Jason Sorley; grandchildren, Cearina, Ethan, and Nicholas Featherston; and many dear cousins that continue to bear the indelible mark of that same love.
The family requests that you please make memorials to your favorite cancer research fund.
