Henry (H. L.) Meinkowsky

Henry Louis (H. L.) Meinkowsky passed away at Goodall-Witcher Hospital on December 26, 2017. Funeral services will be at Zion United Church at Womack at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 30, 2017 with Pastor Pat Cummings officiating. Interment will be at Clifton Memorial Park under the direction of Clifton Funeral Home. Visitation with friends and family will be at 1:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service at Zion United Church.

Born in Bosque County on July 23, 1930 to Henry Gus and Emma (Thiele) Meinkowsky, H. L. married Betty Sue Bearden on April 18, 1951. They shared 65 wonderful years together.

H. L. and Betty bought the home place where H. L. was raised, and they were blessed with three children. H. L. attended the Womack School and then graduated from Clifton High School in 1947. He worked on the farm raising cattle and pigs, farming the land, as well as welding and custom farming for the public. He was a life-long member of Zion United Church.

H. L. was well known as being a very hard worker and–even during the last few years–he retained his sharp sense of humor.

H. L. was preceded in death by his sisters, Verlia Fenter and Thusnelda Meinkowsky. His sister, Pauline Freedman, joined H. L. in heaven on the morning of December 28, 2017.

Survivors include his wife, Betty; daughter Linda Meinkowsky, son Craig Meinkowsky and wife, Debbie; son Bobby Meinkowsky and wife, Tina; and sisters, Hester Rosentreter, Nadine Freedman and Emma Louise Conrad.

Grandchildren are Mark Huffman and wife, Julie; Leah O’Neal and husband, Jamie; Shelley Townley and husband, Nathan; Mindy Otter and husband, Jeromy; and Nicole Ritz and husband, Jose.

Great grandchildren are Chase O’Neal and wife, Adisyn; Justin and Seth O’Neal; Jacob, Austin and Maddie Huffman; Bailey, Brock and Madison Otter; Cameron, Jackson and Carter Ritz, and Ava Townley.

Pallbearers will be Jamie, Justin and Seth O’Neal, Jeromy Otter, Jose Ritz and Nathan Townley .

The family sends its appreciation to the staff of Lutheran Sunset Ministries, Goodall-Witcher Hospital and Dr. Kyle Phillips. Memorials may be made to Lutheran Sunset Ministries or to Zion United Church at Womack.
