Hester Rosentreter

April 29, 1926 — August 30, 2019

Sophie Hester (Meinkowsky) Rosentreter, 93, passed away in her sleep at her home in Waco on Friday morning, August 30, 2019. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, September 8, 2019 at Clifton Memorial Park conducted by her nephew, Rev. Jerry Freedman. Visitation will be held from 1:00-1:45 P.M. Sunday, September 8, 2019 at Clifton Funeral Home.

Sophie Hester Meinkowsky Rosentreter was the fourth daughter of seven children (Verlia, Nelda, Pauline, Hester, Nadine, Henry Louis, and Emma Louise) to their parents Henry and Emma (Thiele) Meinkowsky on April 29, 1926, on the Jameson Farm in the Womack Community of beautiful Bosque County in Central Texas. She and her six siblings attended the Womack school until it consolidated with all of the Clifton schools. As for her enjoyment and for employment, she babysat for many families in Clifton and Waco until 1989, when she announced that she would retire.

On March 17, 1949, in the Zion E&R Church, she and her beloved husband, Raymond Karl Rosentreter exchanged marriage vows and on March 17, 2019, they were still together after 70 plus years! She and Raymond often remarked and said it should be 75 years since dating of those five years. Since trying to have children of their very own, adoption was the next best choice and they did just that of a son, Steven Ray and a daughter, Nancy Ruth.

Hester was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond in May of 2019; parents, Henry and Emma Meinkowsky; three sisters, Verlia Fenter, Nelda Meinkowsky, and Pauline Freedman; brother, Henry Louis Meinkowsky; in-laws, Louis and Ida (Kelm) Rosentreter; six brothers-in-law, John Fenter, Leo Freedman, Malcolm Freedman, Erwin Conrad, Marvin Rosentreter, and Alvis Rosentreter; two sisters-in-law, Eugenia (Johnnie) Rosentreter and Selma Rosentreter; several first cousins and their spouses; two nieces and four nephews.

Hester will be missed and survived by her beloved son, Steven Ray Rosentreter and daughter-in-law, Terry of Grapevine; daughter, Nancy Juarez, of SanAntonio; four grandchildren and their spouses, Eddie Crosby, Raymond Crosby, Ryan Juarez, and Lauren Juarez; eleven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Nadine Freedman of Waco, and Emma Louise Conrad of Clifton; sisters-in-law, Betty Meinkowsky of Clifton and many other beloved family members.

Memorials may be made to Bethel Methodist Church, First Methodist Grapevine and the Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home.
