James Nolan Grissett, age 77, was called home to Heaven on September 4, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 8, 2018, at First Baptist Church, Clifton with Dr. Jerry Smith officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at 3:30 P.M. Monday, September 10, 2018, at Cook-Walden Forest Oaks Cemetery, Austin.
James was born on August 20, 1941, in Beeville to Dan and Mary Grissett and grew up in Sinton, Texas. He attended Southwest Texas State University. He married Susanne Bacon in December 1965, and 2 daughters were born to them. He attained computer certifications and proficiency in programming and data analysis for work at the Manned Spacecraft Center in Houston and in Washington D.C. and for the State of Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. He retired December 31, 2004, with over 35 years of state service. After the death of Susanne in 1977, he married Rose Ann Crockett in March of 1979, and they lived and worked in Austin until they retired. They enjoyed retirement in Clifton, Texas, for 14 years.
He never met a stranger and was an encourager to all. He loved sports and golf and hunting. He was a Deacon and active member of First Baptist Church, Clifton, always striving to live a godly life. He was a leader in the Lions, holding the post of Treasurer for many years.
He is survived by his wife Rose Ann, daughter Fawn Wheeler and husband Robert of Abilene, daughter Amy Kolls and grandson James Kolls of San Antonio.
