Jo Cash, a beloved mother, grandmother, and respected community member, passed away on January 5, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on November 12, 1938, Jo was raised in Clifton, Texas, with a brief period in Carlsbad, New Mexico. She graduated from Clifton High School in 1956 and continued her education at Lee College in Baytown, Texas.
Jo fell in love with Jerry Cash in high school. She enjoyed cheering on the Clifton Cubs as Jerry took to the football field. Jo had many adventures and high jinks with her closeknit group of friends.
In 1957, Jo married Jerry at the United Methodist Church in Clifton, and together they raised three wonderful children: Vickie, Don, and Jeri Lynne. Their family journey took them through several locations, including Pasadena, Texas; Fountain Valley, California; Baytown, Texas; and Conroe, Texas, before retiring back to Clifton, where their roots ran deep.
Jo built a successful career in banking, working her way up from Secretary to Vice President and Branch Manager. Following retirement, she continued to share her banking knowledge working with the First National Bank of Bosque County in Clifton. Her professional accomplishments were matched by her commitment to community service. She actively supported various organizations, including Palmer Drug Abuse, Lions Club, the High School Drill Team Mothers Club, Bible Study Groups, the National Association of Women Bankers, and the Methodist Women's Group. Jo also contributed to a variety of local organizations ranging from the Chamber of Commerce to Bosque Arts Center, showing her dedication to the town that she cherished.
Family was at the heart of Jo's life. She cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren, enjoying trips to the zoo in Waco, Sea World in San Antonio, and making special treats for them in their home in the countryside. Her love for her family was evident in all her actions.
Jo is survived by her son Don Cash of New Mexico, her daughter Jeri and son-in-law Henrik Lykke of Dallas, Texas, and her cherished grandchildren Chris Houk and partner Hannah Spargo, Matt and Kyla Houk, Helena Lykke, and son-in-law Rich Houk. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Denton and Lena Moffatt Denton New; her brothers, Floyd Denton and Hal Denton; her daughter Vickie Cash Houk; and her beloved husband, Jerry Cash.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, January 18, 2025 at First United Methodist Church, Clifton. Burial will follow at Clifton Memorial Park. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Jo Cash will be remembered not only for her contributions to her family and community but for the warmth and love she brought into the lives of those around her. Her legacy will continue through the many lives she touched throughout her remarkable journey.
