Jo Nell Kent

Mrs. Jo Nell Homerstad Kent, age 90, passed away after a brief illness on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at Providence Hospital in Waco, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Norse with interment following at the Norse Cemetery.

Jo Nell was born May 11, 1926 in Norse, Texas, daughter of John and Caia Homerstad. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of fifty-four years, Van Kent; brothers Arnold Homerstad, John Morris Homerstad, Loyd Verne Homerstad; and sisters Trudy Hay, Thelma Ellingson, and Janet Olson.

Survivors include daughter Caia Kent McCullar and son-in-law David McCullar of Denton, and daughter Christi Kent of Groesbeck; three grandsons, Kent Bell of McKinney, Jeff Bell of Houston, and Logan Bell of Midlothian; one sister-in-law, Carolyn Homerstad of Clifton; one brother-in-law, George Kent and wife Elizabeth of Midlothian, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Jo Nell lived most of her married life in Austin, Waco, and Midlothian. She was a Registered Nurse and had a distinguished career in nursing after completing nurses’ training at Providence Hospital in Waco. In addition to her career, Jo Nell was a homemaker who found great joy in cooking, writing poetry, and extending hospitality to family, friends, and neighbors. She was a member of and attended the First Baptist Church in Midlothian prior to her move to the Heckmann Assisted Living Center/Sunset Home in Clifton.
