Joann Blum

September 10, 1932 — January 13, 2019

JoAnn was born in Walnut Springs, Tx on September 10, 1932 at the home of her grandmother Carr. She was the first born of Milton Julian and Odessa Carr Lindberg. She spent the majority of her youth on the Lindberg home place in the Norse Community and then on her parent's farm outside of Cranfills Gap, TX. She attended Clifton and Cranfills Gap schools and graduated from Cranfills Gap High in 1950.

She married Irving Luis (Euttie) Amundson in the summer of 1950. They had one son, Milton Louis, who was born in 1952. Euttie and JoAnn owned and operated the Dairy King in Clifton from 1955 until his death in May of 1958. It was there she earned the reputation of being a master hamburger chef.

In September of 1959, JoAnn married June G. Blum of Cranfills Gap. They had one daughter, Michelle Ann, who was born in 1969. June was a rancher and owned the local feed mill. He later ran mail routes for the postal service. June bought an 18 wheeler and JoAnn traveled with him through all the lower 48 states with the exception of Maine. She loved to tell stories about her travels with June on the “Big Truck”. JoAnn also was an LVN and nursed in Hamilton, Meridian, Hico, and Dallas before retiring from nursing.

JoAnn and June moved from Cranfills Gap to Chalk Bluff, Tx in 1996 where they lived in “The River House” which overlooked the Brazos River. June passed away in 2008 with JoAnn remaining at the river house until her death.

JoAnn lived life to the fullest. She was an avid hunter, loved to ride horses and motorcycles, was a fabulous cook and gardener (she had a full acre garden on the farm). She loved to read and was well versed in politics. She also enjoyed traveling and visiting with family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Milton and Odessa Lindberg of Cranfills Gap, and two husbands, Irving Lewis “Euttie” Amundson and June Garland Blum.

She is survived by her son, Milton and his wife Renda Amundson of Lorena; daughter, Michelle and husband, Stuart Schuetz of Sachse; five grandchildren, Ryan Amundson of Lubbock, Ashley and her husband, Voight of Hewitt, Erica and husband, Derrick Scarbrough of Hewitt, Nathalie and husband, Josh Dowsey of Fate, and Nicholas Schuetz of Sachse; two sisters, Karen and Bill Dowdy of Waco and Janice and Bellamy Bertelsen of Clifton; three great-grandsons, Hank, Warren, and Wyatt; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Services were conducted by Dr. Jerry Smith of First Baptist Church of Clifton on January 16, 2019 with interment at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Clifton. Memorials may be made to B.A.R.K. (Bosque Animal Rescue Kennel) in Clifton, The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or a charity of ones' Choice.
