Joe White

Leslie Joe White, 76, of the Coon Creek Community passed away Monday, November 20, 2017 at his residence. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, December 3, 2017 at the Smith Bend-Coon Creek Cemetery.

Joe was born July 11, 1941 in Williamson County to Lynn and Vada White. He attended first and second grade at Bend, Texas before moving to Coon Creek in 1951 where he continued school before graduating from Clifton in 1960. He began working at Goodyear Tire in Waco before moving to Powell’s Supply where he eventually became store manager in Clifton. He married Rosalyn Marie Lancaster in 1972 which lasted 41 years until her death in 2013. He served on the Clifton City Council and was involved in several local organizations including the Lion’s Club, Conservatory of Fine Arts/Tin Building Theater, and the Clifton Volunteer Fire Department where he served as Fire Chief for several years. It was after joining the Fire Department when he began an involvement in EMS and was instrumental in helping transfer the local ambulance service from the Clifton Funeral Home to Goodall-Witcher Hospital. He later went on to work for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for their ambulance service before retiring. He enjoyed his retirement on the farm and while teaching EMS part time at McLennan Community College.

He is survived by his two sons, Joel White of Coon Creek Community, Jeff White and wife, Tracy of Meridian; brother, Jim White of Dallas; sisters, Lynada Sybert and husband, Tom of Jarrell, Clouis Gibson of Bend; grandson, Carter White of Meridian, and several nieces and nephews.
