John Sitler, Jr.

September 10, 1942 — January 9, 2025

John Bertrand Sitler, Jr. 82, passed away on January 9, 2025 at his residence. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 25, 2025 at Holy Angels Catholic Church, Clifton.

John was born to Clara Elizabeth Wagner Sitler and John Bertrand Sitler on September 10, 1942, in Biloxi, Mississippi. When John was five years old, the family moved to Wichita Falls, Texas where he attended grade school at Mary Immaculate Catholic School, then middle school at Seminary in San Antonio, and High School at Wichita Falls H.S. graduating in 1960.

On July 27, 1965, John and Pamela Gaye Barnes were married at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wichita Falls. He went on to graduate from Midwestern State University in 1968 with a degree in psychology. He began his career in television working for Channel 3 TV in Wichita Falls in the studio crew and film department. After joining the Marine Corps Reserves, he returned to his career in TV at Channel 6 KAUZ Television, first as Director and then as National Sales Manager. In 1969 John and Pam moved to Dallas when John accepted a job with Blair Television where he remained for 30 years until retirement.

They moved to Clifton, TX permanently in 2018, where he worked to keep their farm beautiful, his deer fed, and he loved every minute of it. He was active with Holy Angels Catholic Church, Bosque Museum, Bosque Arts Center, and Neils Creek Wildlife Management Association.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and three brothers, Andrew, David, and Shannon Sitler. He is survived by his wife Pamela; his two daughters, Teri Allison Sitler Buchanan and husband, Jeff, Sheridan Paige Sitler Scobee and husband Robert; and five grandchildren, Alexa Paige Blomberg, Isabelle Grace Blomberg, Gavin Buchanan, Alexandra Blair Scobee, Morgan Blake Scobee; and his three sisters, Mary Douglas and husband Gary, Kathy Sitler, and Susie Hargrove and husband Gary.

He was a kind and loving husband, father, and grandfather, a devout Catholic Christian, Marine, hunter, gardener, skilled stained-glass artist, and arrowhead maker. He loved scuba diving, and sailing, and enjoyed spending the summer with his family at the beach. He was also greatly interested in history and archaeology. A 10-year cancer survivor and the strongest man in our world. He was a colossal prankster, loving to laugh and make those around him laugh. He especially loved sitting around the campfire with his hunting buddies telling stories and visiting on the front porch on Thursday afternoons solving the world's problems with his three treasured friends. He was an adored and highly respected patient father, a hard-working intelligent man, full of wisdom, who loved his family beyond measure.

He is dearly missed.
