Johnny Wayne Terrell, 67, passed away on April 3, 2023 at his residence. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, April 10, 2023 at Searsville Baptist Church.
Johnny Wayne (JW) Terrell was born in Clifton, Texas, June 3, 1955. He was raised and attended all twelve years of school in Valley Mills. He cherished his glory days of high school football and working as a “Hay Devil.” He worked at Byford’s, formed Lanes Chapel Fencing Company with his dad and Terrell Sand and Gravel before becoming ranch foreman at Bates Ranch.
In 1973, JW married his best friend, Becky Hammond. They raised Dedra and Jason in Mosheim where life was not always easy, but it was never boring. He loved being outdoors and taught his kids to fish, hunt, garden and raise animals.
His favorite role in life was being Poppy to Grace and Sarah. He was always quick to tell you that his granddaughters got his best traits.
JW had multiple health problems in his later life, but never lost his quick wit and mischief.
He loved his family and was fiercely protective.
JW is preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Etoy Terrell; two brothers, Billy and Jimmy; and numerous family and friends who took a piece of him in their passing. He is survived by his wife, Becky; daughter, Dedra; son, Jason; daughter-in-law, Samantha; granddaughters, Grace and Sarah; sisters, Kathy Burt and her husband Greg Burt, and Lenora Johnston; and a huge Terrell and Hammond family.
JW (Poppy) was well loved and will be deeply missed.
