After joining a water exercise group while recovering from a car accident, she became an instructor herself.

Joyce and Jerry traveled to Branson on a regular basis and enjoyed extended driving trips to the East Coast, the West Coast and Canada. In retirement, the couple built a house at Lake Whitney, then in Clifton and eventually moved to the apartments at Rainbow Village in Clifton. She was residing at the Sunset Home when she died.
