Juanita Faye Wallace, 104, went home to be with the Lord on August 12,2021 at Clifton Lutheran Sunset Ministries. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 18th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Clifton Funeral Home. Service will be Thursday, August 19th at 1:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Mary Gean Cope, officiating.
Faye was born June 11,1917 to Robert Cecil and Emma Marie (Troll) Pendleton in the German Valley, Hamilton County, Texas, where her father farmed. She attended Mt. View school and graduated from Cranfills Gap.
She met Price Wallace on a blind date, and they married January 31,1936. Faye and Price were the first couple married in the newly built First Methodist Church in Cranfills Gap. After a year of marriage and living on the family farm, they moved to Orange, Texas where Price worked for Austin Bridge. They moved back to Clifton after the war to purchase the Conoco Café followed by the Ice Plant.
In 1952, Price, at the age of 34, suffered a stroke and lost his speech. Faye had to become the main breadwinner of the family. In 1955, Carol Holder asked Faye if she would like to be in the first LVN class ever held at Goodall-Witcher Hospital. Faye accepted and graduated in 1956. She worked for Goodall-Witcher for 31 years, retiring in 1985 and was the last surviving member of that original nursing class.
Faye loved travel and pretty much covered the United States, Canada, Hawaii, Alaska, Guam, Europe, Sadia Arabia, Greece and the Holy Land.
She was active in Joyful Older Youths, United Methodist Women, Loyalty Sunday School Class, Meals on Wheels…and she played a mean game of dominoes.
Faye was a member of the First United Methodist Church for 84 years.
Preceding Faye in death were her parents, her husband, Price William Wallace; her brother and sister-in-law Robert Cecil Jr. and Fay Pendleton; daughter-in-law Janice Eileen Wallace and nephew Robert Ray Pendleton.
She is survived by her children, son Price Duell Wallace of Clifton; son Robert Maxie Wallace and wife M.D.; daughter Anita Faye Jones and husband Johnny of Ft. Worth; son Joe Alan Wallace and wife Nancy of Waco. Grandchildren, Wendy Fleig of Denton; Cindy Belvedere and husband Paul of Katy; Doyle Wallace and wife Leslie of South Boston, VA.; Dean Wallace of Clifton; Wanda Wallace of China Springs; Jamie Middleton and husband Steve of Peaster; Justin Jones and wife Tara of North Richland Hills; Magen Schott and husband Mike of Leander; Barry Wallace and wife Mandolyn of Cheyenne, WY., niece Sharon Pendleton Brooks and 18 great- grandchildren; 7 great-great grands.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Lutheran Sunset Ministries for their care of Mother.
