Julian "Jay" Phillip Carlson, Jr.

Julian Phillip “Jay” Carlson Jr., 74, passed away December 29, 2017 at his ranch north of Clifton. The family will hold a memorial service at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 6, 2018 at First Church of the Nazarene, 1103 North Brazos, Whitney, TX.

Jay was born September 8, 1943 in Pampa to Julian Phillip and Erma Irene (Jenson) Carlson. He graduated from Pampa High School in 1962 and attended West Texas State University in Canyon.

Jay married Carolyn Ruth Strucker in Pampa on September 2, 1967, and they had just celebrated 50 years of marriage. He was the father of two children, Jason Alton Carlson and Crystal Gail Carlson.

Jay retired from IRI international in Pampa, in 1994 after 29 years of service when he and his family moved to their ranch in Bosque County. His expertise was in production control in the areas of planning, expediting, and warehousing. After moving to Bosque County, Jay worked for Kase Machine Company in Whitney, Davis Trucking, and Clifton Feed & Service. He retired from his last job as manager of Ken’s Auto Supply in 2014.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Julian and Erma Carlson, and his son, Jason Alton Carlson.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Carolyn; daughter, Crystal Gail Chambliss and husband, C. Kevin Chambliss; granddaughter, Carley Grace Chambliss, along with extended family and friends.

Jay was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Whitney, memorial donations may be made to the church at P.O. Box 1115 Whitney, TX 76692.
