Katherine Ann Cannon

Katherine “Kathy” Gillie Ernst Cannon of Clifton passed away Saturday, October 28, 2017, at Goodall-Witcher Hospital. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, November 10, 2017, at Clifton Funeral Home with Rev. Brian McQuiggin of Immanuel Lutheran Church officiating.

On December 7, 1939, Kathy was born in Hallock, MN, to Russell and Gen Gillie. She married Henry Ernst in December of 1961 and, as a dependent army wife, spent many years moving while raising her three children. When Henry passed away in May of 1995, she moved from California to Texas to be near her children.

Kathy then reconnected with her childhood friend, Tom Cannon, also from Hallock. They eventually married on November 27, 1998, and spent many years in Minnesota where they enjoyed the outdoors, camping and hiking before moving back to Texas once again.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Russell and Gen; husband, Henry; and daughter, Julie Taylor.

Survivors include her husband, Tom Cannon; daughter, Nancy Chovanec and husband, Joe; son, Tim Ernst and wife, Barbi; son-in-law, Joel Taylor; grandchildren, Kirsten Owens and husband, Justin, Amanda Rodriguez and husband, Anthony, Stephen Colby and wife, Krista, Kyle and Cory Taylor, Trevor and Brandon Ernst, and Christopher Cannon; stepchildren, Heather, Kevin, and Lynne Cannon; nieces, Teresa, Debbie, Carole and Tina; and six beautiful great-grandchildren that will greatly miss their GiGi.
