Lenora Jane (Seider) Blackman

Lenora Jane “Tootie” Blackman passed away Saturday, July 24, 2021, at the Sunset Home in Clifton.  Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clifton, with Pastor Joe Ardy officiating.  A graveside service at Clifton Memorial Park.  Visitation is at Clifton Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Tootie was born to Alfred Seider and Josephine Feldmann Seider on November 28, 1942, in Hamilton.  She had a sister, Dorothy, and a brother, Charles.  She was baptized at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Aleman on December 27, 1942, by Rev. A. Liefer, and was confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church on June 17, 1956, by Rev. A.H. Hoyer.

Tootie received her education at St. Paul’s Lutheran School, Aleman Public School, and Hamilton High School.

Tootie’s daughter, Tammy Kay, was born in 1961 in Hamilton, and in January of 1965, she and her family moved to Clifton where she worked for Colvert’s Pharmacy.

After the loss of an infant son, Tootie went to work for Walls in Clifton, and in 1970 her son, Robert George, was born.

Tootie met Emmett Hurston “Blackie” Blackman of Gatesville in 1976 and they were married at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clifton on February 24, 1977.  They continued to live in Clifton with her children.

Tootie continued to work for Walls for more than 30 years.

She lost her beloved husband, Blackie, on August 30, 1999, and retired shortly after.

Tootie enjoyed camping, gardening, sewing, crocheting, crafts, attending family reunions, her pets, and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Tootie had a loving heart and never hesitated to help anyone she could.  She crocheted baby blankets for family members and friends who were expecting, and while at the Sunset Home, she made jewelry to sell to help raise money for scholarships.  She never asked for anything in return.

Tootie was preceded in death by her parents Alfred and Josephine Seider; brother Charles Seider; infant son Lanmon; husband Emmett Blackman; and son in law David Anderson.

Tootie is survived by her sister Dorothy Schoedel and husband John of Hamilton; daughter Tammy Anderson of Meridian; son Robert Lanmon and wife Robin of Joshua; grandchildren Daniel Anderson and wife Laurie of Meridian, Ashley Barner and husband Levi of Waco and Kyle Lanmon and wife Jessica of Austin; great grandchildren Ava Lanmon and Hannah Lanmon of Austin; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Pallbearers are Daniel Anderson, Kyle Lanmon, John Isensee, Billy Lawson, Keith Blackman, Jason Partin, Brent Belcher and Levi Barner.

Tootie told her family how much she loved them each and every day, and she will be greatly missed.

Arrangements were made by Clifton Funeral Home.
