Lois (Blassingame) Williams

March 13, 1934 — August 31, 2019

Anna Lois Williams, 85, passed away Saturday, August 31, 2019 at a nursing facility in New Braunfels. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 7, 2019 at Fairview Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Anna Lois Williams was born on March 13, 1934 in the Fairview community on what is now Bosque County Road 3545.  She was the 2nd born to Tillman “Till” Augustus Blassingame and Cassie Roxanna Kimbrough.  She was welcomed by her brother, Wayne.  Lois was 6 when Till and Cassie bought the family farm where some of the family still resides.  Lois was baptized into Fairview Baptist Church as a child and was a 4th generation member.  On June 16, 1951, Lois married John Taylor “Jack” Williams and started their family in the Cayote and Fairview communities. They moved to Austin in 1957 where they raised their family.  Jack and Lois lived in the Austin area until retirement.  In the summer of 2003, they returned to the family farm at Fairview.  After Jack’s passing, Lois moved to New Braunfels, Texas in 2016 to be near her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Lois took a very active role in her young childrens’ lives and was involved in church activities, Cub Scouts, PTA, and youth sports.  More than anything, Lois and Jack enjoyed spending time with their children and grandchildren camping and taking many road trips.  Lois (Mema) loved her grandchildren so much that she opened a nursery so she could have an active part in raising them.  Mema rarely missed a ball game, dance recital, or school program.  Mema and Pop loved their family and friends and enjoyed spending time with their nephew, Roger Blassingame and niece, Judy (Blassingame) Wasson and their children.

Their favorite pastime that did not involve their children or grandchildren was square dancing with their friends.  They were active members of Austin Square and Round Dance Association and served as state officers.

Anna Lois (Blassingame) Williams, 85 years old, passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2019 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer disease.

Lois joins her husband of 61 years, Jack Williams, who preceded her in death on May 31, 2012.  Lois was the youngest child of Till and Cassie Blassingame of the Fairview Community and the sister of Wayne Blassingame, all of whom have preceded her in death.  Lois is survived by her sister-in-law, Tress Blassingame of the Fairview Community.

Lois and Jack had two children, four grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.  Daughter, Johnnye Kay (Williams) Lumpkin of News Braunfels, Texas, and son-in-law Randy Lumpkin  (deceased) and their sons, Nicholas Lumpkin and wife, Kim of  Cincinnati, Ohio, and Brian Lumpkin and wife Lisa and daughters, Aubrie, Julie, and Kylie, of New Braunfels, Texas; and Son, David (Butch) Williams and wife Lynda of Spring Branch, Texas, and their children, J.T. Williams and wife Beth and children, Madison, Daphne, and Jack, of New Braunfels, Texas, and Erin Dawn (Williams) Hansen and husband Randy and children, Clare and Robert, of San Antonio, Texas.

Lois (Mema) will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many family and friends.  We will all carry precious memories of her sweet and playful spirit, her laughter, her big hugs, and her open arms.  “We love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck, Mema!”
