Maebelle Blewett

Maebelle Watterson Blewett died peacefully on March 22, 2018 at the age of 96 at Goodall-Witcher Nursing Facility in Clifton, Texas. Services for the Celebration of Life of Maebelle will be held at 2:00 P.M. at First Presbyterian Church of Clifton. Interment will follow the service at Clifton Memorial Park.

Maebelle was born on May 5, 1921 to Henry V. and Lyda Lee Watterson. She received most of her education in Dallas, where she graduated from North Dallas High School in 1939. Maebelle married John William (Bill) Blewett Jr. on June 18, 1940. They raised their family in Cedar Hill, Duncanville, and Clifton, Texas. Maebelle was the office manager at the Clifton Telephone Company jointly owned by Bill and his father John William Blewett Sr. She remained at Bill’s side until his death in 1991. She was active in civic and church affairs, and the Bosque Arts Center in Clifton. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, arranging flowers, and making ceramics. To the union of Bill and Maebelle, three children were born: John Charles (Chuck), Sherryl Lee (Sherrie), and Lori.

Maebelle is survived by her son, Chuck of Clarksville, Tennessee; her daughter, Sherrie and husband, Paul Mangum of Clifton, Texas; her daughter, Lori and husband, Donald Symank of Clifton, Texas; six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Norma Wilson of Cedar Hill, Texas.

Pallbearers are: Logan Blewett, Chris Mangum, Bobby Lewis, Matt Gilley, Donald Symank, and Shiloh Fuller. The honorary pallbearers are: Andrew Mangum, and Kenneth and Matthew Gilley.

Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, the American Cancer Society, the Bosque Arts Center, or the Bosque Museum.
