Maradelle C. Dewitt

December 18, 1926 — January 26, 2017

Maradelle C. Langseth Helton DeWitt, 90, passed away on Thursday, January 26th, 2017 in Clifton. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 31st at 2:30 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church, with graveside services to follow at Trinity Cemetery. Pastor Clayton McCord will officiate the ceremony.

Maradelle was born on December 18th, 1926 in DeLeon, Texas. She was athletic in school and a cheerleader at Clifton High. She was also creative, studying art at Clifton College. She married Garland Helton, an army sergeant, on June 1st, 1946. After moving to Austin, Maradelle began working for the Texas Department of Public Safety in Statistics, and spent many years as a homemaker. After the passing of her first husband, she met Charles DeWitt of San Antonio, a federal railroad inspector. They married on January 2nd, 1977. Together, they spent their retirement years criss-crossing America as active members of the Airstream trailer club.

She was an active and dedicated member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Clifton for most of her life, having been baptized, confirmed and married there.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Mina Langseth, her brother, Orville ‘Tuffy' Langseth, and her first husband, Garland Helton.

Maradelle is survived by her husband, Charles DeWitt; son, Larry Helton and his wife Karen; daughter, Linda Wright; step-son, Charles DeWitt, Jr. and his wife Kielian; step-daughter, Penny Pitamber and her husband Suresh; her brother, Oscar Paul Langseth and his wife Shirley; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Eric Helton, Michael Helton, Kris Wright, Samuel Pitamber, Seth Foster, Thomas Reidy and David Pham.

All are welcome to attend the service and celebrate Maradelle's life.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Goodall-Witcher Nursing Facility, and Rose and Skip Barnett for their dedication and care.
