Marlene (Sorley) Anz

Marlene Sorley Anz, 76, passed away on March 31, 2023. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, April 6, 2023 at Boggy Cemetery, Cranfills Gap. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at Clifton Funeral Home.

Marlene Sorley Anz was born in Meridian, Texas on August 9, 1946, to parents Eldon Sorley and Millie Standford.  She grew up in the small family community of Stanford Valley near Cranfills Gap, Texas, and attended Cranfills Gap School during her educational years. Marlene also went to beautician school in Ft. Worth, Texas for her extended education.

Marlene was married in 1983 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. She was blessed with two children, Laura and Craig Wickman, and was a devoted mother to the two. She was very talented in many areas of motherhood. She loved to cook for the family! Marlene could just about do anything. She crocheted, knitted, embroidered, sewed, and quilted. She was very talented in her needlework. One of her passions was researching history. Marlene was very big on family and local history around Bosque County. Gardening was one of her favorite pastimes too!

Marlene was a member of the Methodist Church. She loved being involved in her church and community functions. She was blessed to contribute many of her needlework projects over the years to many fundraisers held at the church and in her little community.

Marlene worked for Goodall-Witcher Hospital for many years up until her retirement. She also worked at Clifton Elementary School. In her spare time, she was involved again with her community as a Relay for Life Cancer Society supporter. She was very devoted to family, friends, and community. She will be so very missed by all that loved her.

Marlene is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Laura and Wayne Vinson. Son and daughter-in-law Craig and Rosemary Wickman. Stepsons Ted Anz and Doyle Anz and daughter-in-law Lesa. Grandchildren; Jared and Mandy Vinson, Corey Layne Vinson and Kassy Vinson; Emily and Steven Elam. Marlene was also blessed with 8 great-grandchildren.
