Martha Jane Holland

August 14, 1936 — February 2, 2025

Martha Jane Holland, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away on February 2, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on August 14, 1936, in Braggs, Oklahoma, Martha’s life was a testament to love, dedication, and compassion.

Martha graduated from Valliant High School, and while raising her children, she pursued her passion for nursing and earned an associate's degree from Paris Jr. College. Her career in nursing not only highlighted her dedication to caring for others but also exemplified her sweet and giving personality. She was known for her loving nature and her ability to respect everyone she encountered throughout her life.

Martha had many interests that enriched her life. She was an avid reader and developed a passionate love for traveling the world. However, her greatest joy came from her family, particularly her grandchildren. Martha leaves behind her daughters, Cathy Holdbrook (Ray), Paula Perschke (Doug), and Michelle Hamill; her sister, Lorene Cavender; as well as her beloved grandchildren, Jacob Perschke (Missy), Jordan Perschke, David Hamill, Brad Holdbrook (Amanda), Corey Holdbrook, and Hannah Holdbrook. She also delighted in the laughter of six great-grandchildren and awaited the arrival of another great-grandchild due in April.

Martha was preceded in death by her loving husband, Gerald David Holland, her parents Josephine and Benjamin Applegate, as well as her sisters Juanita Shockley, Rema Talbert, Lenora Fields, and Elsie Robinson. She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Alan Hamill.

Martha Jane Holland will be fondly remembered for her nurturing spirit and as a pillar of strength for her family. Her legacy of love and generosity will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. A graveside service will be held in her honor at 11:00 A.M., on February 15, 2025, at Restland Cemetery in Roxton, Texas.

Memorials may be made to the Susan G. Koman Breast Cancer Foundation.
