Mary was baptized and saved as a child and went home to her Father on September 5, 2021, surrounded by her children at home.

Mary was born February 21, 1948, in Jackson Mississippi to parents J.W. and Annie Laurie Hall. Mary grew up in the Dallas area and attended Crozier Tech High School.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by sisters Joann and Dora Lee. Husbands Bobby Joe Day and Byon Lee Barnes and daughter Johanna Barnes.

Mary is survived by Daughters Wanda Ann Arterburn and SIL Sam of Beaumont, Tx.  Lisa Renee Hall and SIL Jason of Teague, Tx.  Stacie Dawn Shoemaker and SIL Glenn of Groesbeck, Tx. and son Tracy Shon Brown and DIL Norysol of Fairfield, Tx. Grandchildren include Kristi Hughes, Crystal Whitten, Brittany Gambrell, Michael Thompson, Brandon Nabora, Jacob Riddle, Emily Hack, John Mcwhirter , Alex Brown, Lucas Brown and Hannah Brown and 18 Great grandchildren.  Sisters Laura Nell and Darlene.

Mary was an extremely strong woman, often working with severe pain. Heroic not to just her own children but to others as well. At one time, there was 11 children to care for in her home. A selfless woman, who would give to any in need, even if she did without. Mary loved laughing and creating laughter.

Mary cherished time spent with family. In her younger years, she would sing to her children and anyone who would listen. Many times, making cassette tape recordings to enjoy later. Music was a significant part of her life. In her later years, not being able to get out, she learned how to play electronic games such as candy crush.

Family was very important to Mary. Family get-togethers were always something to take seriously. Thanksgiving was the biggest holiday and weeks of thoughtful preparation went into the details of the celebration of family. Typically, the night before everyone got together and spent the night together laughing, chopping vegetables, and having her son Shon play his guitar while everyone sang. One of Mary’s request was to carry on this tradition when she was gone. She would laugh and say, “I am the Matriarch!”

Mary was loved by many and her principles, work ethic,  passion for music, love of family and family traditions will carry on in the “dynasty” she created.
