Mary (Hendrix) Gibbs

Mary Bula Hendrix Gibbs affectionally known to her family as "Meemaw" passed away from this earth to walk into the loving arms of her Savior and join her husband, R. B. Gibbs, on May 4, 2022, after living a long life of 96 years.

Mary was born on November 30, 1925, on the homeplace on Cow House Creek near Pidcoke, Texas. Her parents were John Robert Hendrix, Sr., and Cynthia Elizabeth Delano Hendrix. Being the youngest in her family she is predeceased not only by her parents but two sisters, Bitha and husband Bill Hinson of Lampasas, Texas, and Etta Mae and husband Archie Wright of Gatesville, Texas, and three brothers J.R. and wife Mozel of Sudan, Texas, Odean and wife Daisy of Aledo, Texas, and Robert and wife Gladys of Dublin, Texas.

In 1941, when Mary was sixteen years old, the government took the Hendrix homestead to later build part of Fort Hood. Mary was baptized in Cowhouse Creek behind Pidcoke Baptist Church when she was 10 years old, attended school in Pidcoke and also attended Grace Memorial Church in Clifton.

Mary and R.B. married in Gatesville, Texas, November 3, 1944. R.B. was stationed at Fort Hood and was later sent to San Antonio, Texas then to Corpus Christi, Texas. After leaving the army they lived all over southern Texas moving from one oil rig to another. They moved to their place outside of Clifton in 1956. They owned and operated Gibbs Manufacturing and Gibbs Trophy Company in Cranfills Gap, Texas, in 1969. Mary worked at the factory and later as postmaster at the Cranfills Gap post office.

Mary is survived by her son, Troy and wife Mary of Bluff Dale, Texas, and daughter, Billie and husband Clyde of Marble Falls, Texas, two grandchildren, Jeffrey Reeder and wife Libbi, of  Marble Falls, Texas, and Letitia McCasland and husband Brad of Godley, Texas, six great grandchildren, Canyon Reeder, Brynn Reeder, Sterling Hahn, Keaton Hahn, Jessica McCasland, Brianna McCasland, and nieces and nephews.

The family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made to the charity of your choice in Mary's name.

Graveside services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Boggy Cemetery in Cranfills Gap, Texas, officiated by Brother Edward Davis of Grace Memorial Baptist Church Clifton, Texas. Visitation will be held from 1:00-3:00 P.M. Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Clifton Funeral Home.
