Max Gerald Lund was born April 21, 1939 to parents Tessie Erna (Seedig) Lund and Orin Leroy Lund in Bosque County on Neils Creek between Clifton and Valley Mills, TX.  Max was delivered at home by young Dr. V.D. Goodall.  Max was baptized in infancy on June 25, 1939 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Clifton.  Max was about six months old when he, older brother Gene Franklin, and their parents moved to the Harmony Community west of Clifton to live on maternal grandfather Paul Seedig’s place.  A few years later the property became the Lund family farm.  A week before Max turned ten years old, his sister Patsy Darleene was born.  Max was confirmed on May 21, 1953 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church (Norse) near Clifton.  He attended Sunday School and Luther League and was a member of Our Savior’s for the rest of his life.

He attended school at Cranfills Gap ISD for twelve years, a good student who enjoyed participating in sports: basketball, baseball, and football.  He graduated with the “Class of 1957.”  Max worked hard on the family farm, field work, and working with farm animals.  He also helped neighbors at harvest time.  Several summers he worked at Wilson’s Building Materials in Clifton.  He was drafted by the U.S. Army and served his country two years active (1964-’66) and in reserves for four years.  He received the B.S. degree from North Texas State University in Denton.

He worked at Texas Instruments in Dallas for about 35 years, living in Richardson, then Plano, and in Garland for over 30 years.

He returned to the family farm for holidays, birthdays, family reunions, and to attend church.  He enjoyed playing dominoes (“42” and “84”) with family and friends.  He loved cats, especially “Sugar and Spice,” ones he had for many years.  He enjoyed fishing and hunting all his life, especially fishing on Meridian Creek.

In recent years he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s and Meniere’s diseases.  Having balance problems and difficulty walking, he moved back to the farm in May of 2021.  Earlier this year he had a stroke, and after hospital and nursing home stays, he returned back to his home for the last four months with his sister and care-giver, Patsy, and hospice assistance.

At age 83, Max passed away at home on Friday, August 12, 2022.  He was preceded in death by his parents.  He is survived by his sister Patsy Lund, niece Brenda Moore, nephew Ben (and Maura) Lund, great-nephews Tye (and Mindy) Moore, Lad (and Nicole) Moore, Andrew Lund, Zachary (and Caitlyn) Lund, great-great-nephew Hudson, great-great nieces Mae, Vivian, Carson, Ruby, cousins and friends.  Max will be missed by all who knew and loved him.  Blessed be his memory.

Memorials may be made to the Our Savior’s Cemetery Fund, ℅ Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 152 CR 4145, Clifton, TX 76634, or to a favorite charity.
