Melodie B. Smith

Melodie B. Smith, age 67, of Cranfills Gap passed away Sunday morning in Stephenville. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Friday, January 27, 2017, at the First United Methodist Church in Clifton with Dr. Jerry Smith and Rev. Mary Gean Cope officiating. Burial will follow at Our Savior's Lutheran Cemetery at Norse. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM, Thursday, at Clifton Funeral Home.

Melodie was born October 27, 1949 in Lubbock to Ross Jackson and Lucy Pearl (Nix) Brock. She was a 1968 graduate of Springlake-Earth High School. On June 6, 1970, Melodie was united in marriage to Richard Earl Smith and he preceded her in death on February 7, 1996. She later received her Bachelors degree in Education from Tarleton State University in May 1991. That fall, she began her career with Clifton ISD teaching kindergarten. Currently, she taught in the special education department, where she had been for the past 26 years.

A very active member of First United Methodist Church in Clifton, Melodie served in many capacities over the years. She loved singing in the church choir and other singing groups within the church. An avid reader, she also enjoyed playing cards, living in the country, and spending time with her family. Loving wife, mother, and grandmother, she was very involved in her sons' and grandchildrens' lives, never missing an event in which they participated.

Also preceding her in death were her parents.

Survivors include her four sons, Jason Smith and wife, Kimberly, of Palmer, Adam Smith and wife, Jill, of Fort Worth, Daniel Smith of Stephenville, and David Smith and wife, Misty, of Stephenville; brother, Chris Brock and wife, Giselle, of Ralls; sister, DeAnne Hagood and husband, Mark, of Bedford; and four grandchildren, Brittany Smith of Palmer, Caleb Smith and Ella Smith, both of Stephenville, and Sawyer Smith of Fort Worth.
