Michael Dewayne Prause, 62, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his residence on Thursday, September 22, 2022. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, September 30, 2022 at First Baptist Church, Clifton. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Mike was born on July 21, 1960 to Sammy and Barbara Prause in Clifton, Texas. He spent most of his younger years in the home his family built in Bosque County on the family ranch which had been established in 1865. He returned to his childhood home in 2010 to be close to his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Tami, his brother Mark (Rudy) Prause and wife Melanie, his sister Deborah Prause Jackson and husband Ed Jackson, and his nieces and nephews Cassie, Kyle, Josie, Jay, Kris-Ann, and Sheridan. He is also survived by his bonus kids Chris Asikis and wife Amber, Kathryn DeLange and husband Taylor, and Jonathan Asikis. His grandchildren are Levi, Abel, Callie, and Mylo. He is also loved by many aunts, uncles, and cousins who he was very close to and were dear to his heart.
Mike loved all things Cowboy. He rode bulls in the PRCA for many years and was known as Freckles or Freck to his fellow riders. As he grew older (and wiser!), he hung up his bull rope and volunteered for the H.O.T. Special Ranch Rodeo for his good friend and former hauling partner.
After working many years as a welder, Mike had recently started working his dream job as a horse trail guide. He had the opportunity to meet new people, work with animals, and spin a good yarn along the way. His days were filled with sharing his love of history, horses, and beautiful sunsets.
He loved to fish, check the cows, drive through the pasture with his six-shooter, and proudly show new friends the family place. He was a kind man who enjoyed a good joke, spooky ghost shows, and singing Marty Robbins songs to his wife. He and Tami loved to two-step, travel to Kerrville and Ft. Worth, and spend time in Colorado. He loved his family with all his heart. He was larger than life and we will miss his genuine smile, warm hugs, and easy conversation so much.
