Millard (Sonny) Sadler, Jr. (88) passed away peacefully with his family by his side January 6, 2025 at Lutheran Sunset Ministries in Clifton, Texas. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Clifton Funeral Home.
Sonny was born May 26, 1936 in Cayote, Texas to Millard Sadler, Sr. and Clara Mae Sadler. He grew up in Turnersville, Texas, and graduated from Turnersville High School. He operated the Sadler family cotton gin and grain business in Turnersville until 1974. He also drove a truck hauling cotton for the gin. After the cotton gin closed he went to work with his brother Jerry Don at Chemical Lime, Inc. in Clifton and retired in 2000.
Sonny loved fishing and he and Bruce spent many hours together on Lake Whitney. Sonny and Darla took multiple road trips searching for the best burger in Texas. He loved to fix things and DIY projects. He never met a stranger literally. He’d walk up to total strangers and start up a conversation.
Sonny is survived by his dear wife of 70 years - Shirley (Canuteson) daughter Darla Sadler and son Bruce Sadler. He is also survived by his dear sister Betty Latham and many nieces and nephews.
Sonny is preceded in death by his parents Millard Sadler and Clara Sadler and 8 of his 9 siblings: Winona Wenzel, Ivan Sadler, Nelda Jo Miller, Ina Chandler, Bonnie Barber, Lois Barr, Wallace Sadler, and Jerry Don Sadler.
We want to thank the wonderful nurses (especially Kim and Karen) and staff at Lutheran Sunset Ministries and Sunset Hospice for his excellent care and compassion.
