Milton Ray Grimland

Milton Ray Grimland, a life-long resident of Bosque County, living in the Norse/Clifton Area, went to be with his heavenly father on June 7, 2018, at the age of 89 years, 11 months, and 7 days. His wife was there to greet him. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, June 9, 2018, at Norse Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, June 23, 2018, at Clifton Funeral Home.

Milton was born on June 27, 1928, to Oscar and Annie Buswold Grimland. He grew up in a typical Norwegian farming family of that time, and often shared his memories of family hog butchering times, attending school at Turkey Creek, working and traveling with the Thrasher as a young man, and many, many more.

As a young man, Milton would occasionally visit the old Conoco Café in Clifton where he eventually met and married his devoted wife of 56 years, Esther Elizabeth Dietiker. To this marriage were born three sons; Dennis Ray, John Wayne, Randy Paul.

Early in their marriage, Milton farmed land in the Norse area, but following a couple of years of bad luck, Milton moved his family to Clifton in 1957 and began working at the William Cameron Lumber Company. In 1968, Milton began doing various types of construction-based projects on his own, and this eventually led him into building homes from the ground up, almost entirely by himself, along with the assistance of his wife Elizabeth.

Milton retired in 1991 but continued to stay active in various construction projects, especially those of his three sons.

Milton was preceded in death by his mother and father, his brothers; J.C., Irvin, and Allen, and his beautiful wife, Elizabeth.

He is survived by his three sons, Dennis and wife, Beth of Robinson, John and wife, Joyce of Dublin, and Randy and wife, Twila of Waco; 7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
