Nancy Haenisch

July 24, 1943 — October 12, 2023

Nancy Naquin (Harmon) Haenisch was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend during her joyful 80 years of life. She passed away peacefully in the early hours of Thursday, October 12, 2023. She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Alexander and husband, Dean Doles; her granddaughters, Lauren and Rachel Alexander; her partner, Brian Haenisch; and countless friends who she considered family.

Here we (Lauren and Rachel) will share some memories of our granny and a brief biography.

We will remember Granny for her cheerful smile and her unconditionally loving nature. She was always so supportive of us, from attending gymnastics meets and dance recitals any chance she could, to ensuring us we were capable of going after anything we wanted. She was our biggest cheerleader. She never failed to tell us how much she loved us and how proud she was to be our granny. She would brag about us to her friends and anyone who would listen, too. For many years as we were growing up she lived just one street over from us. We loved walking to her house to spend the afternoon with her and she couldn’t visit our house without rearranging all the furniture before she left. She was always trying to create a warm and welcoming home through her decorating, but it was her presence and energy that made it so warm. We are so lucky to have had her so close to us for so many years.

Nancy was born on July 24, 1943, in Franklin, Louisiana to Edna Rose and Elwood (Jack) Naquin. From her mother, she inherited her sense of adventure and love for travel. She had a pride for her Louisiana Cajun heritage that she carried with her throughout her life. When her daughter Lisa was five, she moved them to Dallas, TX, where she spent 25 years as a Realtor. She spent the last years of her life between Clifton, TX and Almont, CO with Brian.

Family meant the world to her, and for her, friends were family. She never met a stranger. Always a perky smile and bountiful conversation for her lifelong friends and the new friend in line at the grocery store. Her door was always open and you were welcome with her.

To her loving and amazing friends who regularly checked in on her as her health declined in her final years, words are not enough. You brought her joy and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Our family is comforted to know that Nancy is at peace.

A celebration of life will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, October 22ndat Unity Church in Dallas (Fellowship Hall). 6525 Forest Lane. Dallas, TX 75230.
