Opal Waits, 100, of Rockwall passed away November 20, 2015 at her home. A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at Heath Cemetery with Pastor Colton Yarbro officiating.
Born January 26, 1915, in Hill County, Opal was the daughter of Thomas and Mary Jane (Heath) Rose. Opal lived in Bosque County and started school there, but as a young child she moved with her family to the Huron area of Hill County. She graduated from Elm Mott High School in Huron. On August 22, 1933, she married Guy Waits. They lived in Hill County for many years before moving to Bosque County. She worked for Wall's Manufacturing Company for 15 years, retiring in 1976. Upon retiring she became more involved with helping Guy operate the Trading Post. She enjoyed going to garage and estate sales and making purchases for resale. After Guy's death she continued to operate the business until she turned 80 in 1995. She sold the business and moved to Dallas to be near her daughter Patsy. She was a member of Grace Memorial Baptist Church in Clifton. She enjoyed traveling, going to Canada once, Hawaii twice, and was driven to almost every State in the Union by her son Jerry and his wife Carol.
Survivors include her daughter, Patsy Clayton; son, Jerry Waits and wife Carol; sisters, Jean Riggins, Dixie Wilson; brother, James Thomas and wife Rose; sister-n-law, Frankie Rose; 2 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
