Pernie Stanford

Pernie Wayne Stanford, 86, of Clifton, passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2023. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Clifton. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church (10:00-11:00). Burial will follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.

Pernie was born on September 13, 1937, in Cranfills Gap, Texas. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Pernie attended Cranfills Gap schools before joining the Army at the age of 17. He served his country from 1956 to 1958. On June 7, 1958, he married the love of his life, Mary Lou Dahl. Together, they raised three children. Sadly, Mary Lou passed away on August 19, 1992. Pernie found love again and married Rayola on May 23, 1993.

Pernie was an avid fisherman and enjoyed camping, cooking, and baking. He was known for hosting lively parties where he would fry fish for his loved ones. In addition to his hobbies, Pernie owned and operated Stanford Plumbing for over 25 years, earning a reputation as the best plumber in Clifton, Texas. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

Pernie Wayne Stanford was the sweetest man you could ever meet. He had a kind and generous heart, always willing to do anything for anyone. His warm personality and caring nature touched the lives of many.

He is survived by his loving wife, Rayola Stanford, and his children: Kevin Stanford (Flora), Kim Stanford Johnson (Jerry), Corby Roberts (Katherine), Jill and Matthew Snapp, and Cliff Roberts. Pernie is also survived by his brothers: Clinton Stanford, Jr., Jerry Stanford, William Stanford, Kenneth Stanford, Robert Stanford, Melvin Stanford, and his sister, Paula Aguirre. He leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion to his grandchildren: Clinton Stanford, Stormey Stanford, Sadey Stanford, Shelby Johnson, Jerry Brett Johnson, Joshua Townley, Brooke Gentry, Evan Snapp, Rose Kirkmeyer, Credence Roberts, Gatlin Roberts, Preston Roberts, Nate Roberts, and seven great-grandchildren.

Pernie was preceded in death by his parents, Clinton Owen Stanford and Alma Emelia Anderson Stanford, his first wife, Mary Lou Dahl Stanford, his daughter, Karri Dale Stanford Townley, and his sister, Carolyn Stanford Brown.

Pernie Wayne Stanford will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. May he rest in eternal peace.
